An appeal to the press )
Journalists, the University of Alaska is trying to stop you from covering a story! They have gone to great lengths to hide the ongoing University-faculty union contract negotiations.
The bosses’ depraved Stalinist tactics include:
forcing workers who watch the negotiations on Zoom to attest that they are alone in their rooms
recruiting the union functionaries to verify that all Zoom attendees are union members
forcing the union to give the University a complete list of Zoom attendees, presumably so that the bosses can figure out the sources of the leaks
endless condemnation of public negotiations – which they denigrate as a “fishbowl”
What do the University bosses fear?
That other categories of workers might hear about the concessions made to faculty? That potential wage-slaves will hear about how bad things are within UA? That the public will hear about how the UA bosses have done nothing to right the ship?
If you do not cover this story, an important state institution will continue to flail about with no absolutely no public oversight.
